The Rotary Club of Fergus-Elora sponsors care of legacy Sugar Maple slated for removal

On October 2, the Rotary Club of Fergus-Elora partnered with Tree Trust to preserve a public street tree slated for removal on account of upcoming road construction on Garafraxa Street West. Due to the George Street Sugar Maple removal in Fergus, the Township gave Tree Trust clearance to hire Baum Tree Care to restore this tree so it may continue storing and sequestering carbon, contributing habitat for animals, providing shade, among a myriad of other benefits for years to come.

The event was followed by a walk of historic trees of Elora led by local author and historian Al Koop.
