The Toronto Islands Community Tree Trust Chapter is gearing up for another exciting year of environmental stewardship and community involvement.

This April, the group welcomed staff for a special visit across the Islands to showcase the incredible work volunteers have done over the past several years to help keep the area greener, healthier, and more resilient. Led by Chapter Managers Kathleen and Warren, the tour highlighted a variety of newly planted and mature trees throughout the Islands.

Throughout the tour, Kathleen and Warren shared stories about past planting initiatives, restoration projects, and the ongoing efforts that go into maintaining the Islands’ urban forest. Their passion and dedication reflected the strong sense of community that continues to drive the chapter forward.

The visit also showcased the important role arborist Tyler Ganton has played in helping preserve several mature trees across the Islands. Through careful monitoring and maintenance, these trees are able to continue thriving for future generations to enjoy.

As the chapter looks ahead to the coming year, volunteers remain committed to expanding and protecting the Islands’ tree canopy through planting events, education, and conservation efforts. Together, their work continues to make a lasting impact on one of Toronto’s most treasured natural spaces.
