At Saint Lukes Place, Cambridge, Baum Tree Care took care of two important trees—Tilia cordata (Little Leaf Linden) and Acer saccharum (Sugar Maple). The Little Leaf Linden, approximately 20 years old with a DSH of 52 cm, received a Tree Trust-Tree Care Prescription that included root collar excavation to identify and correct any issues with the abnormal root flare, which can prevent structural weaknesses and enhance the tree’s stability. Removing deadwood due to its proximity to the main entrance helps to minimize potential hazards and protect pedestrians. Mulching around the base reduces injury to the exposed roots, which supports the tree’s overall health. The Sugar Maple, around 30 years old with a DSH of 21 cm, benefited from structural pruning to promote a strong central leader and subordinate any co-dominant stems, which helps the tree withstand environmental stresses like wind and snow. Mulching around the base prevents future mechanical damage and ensures the tree’s long-term health. Thank you to the Baum Tree Care team for their dedicated work on these trees, ensuring they remain healthy and vibrant for years to come.
