Toni Ellis is a long-time environmental activist who believes that change happens from the ground up. Toni is a board member of the Elora Environment Centre and is coordinating the urban tree program, Neighbourwoods, which mobilizes volunteers to plant, steward, inventory and advocate for our community’s urban forest. Toni managed Forests Ontario’s Heritage Tree program which recognizes the province’s most historically important trees. Toni was recognized as Citizen of the Year in 2007 and awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012.

Catherine Goddard is a long-time gardener and naturalist who has recently retired and returned to Guelph. She is glad to have found such a wonderful group of volunteers who love trees as much as she.

Geoff Love (left) is an environmentalist who has worked as a waste diversion and climate change consultant across Canada and internationally for over 35 years. He is president of Love Environment, a small, specialized Canadian environmental consulting company.

Marianne Van Den Heuvel (middle) is a lifelong resident of Perth County and has enjoyed long and rewarding relationships with trees. She was educated in Resource Management and has extensive experience in evaluating forest soils (Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry) and conservation techniques (Maitland Valley Conservation Authority, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs).

Jane Eligh-Feryn (right) has a master’s in Landscape Architecture and has worked as an environmental planner in the private sector and a park planner for Metropolitan Toronto. She currently owns Eligh-Feryn Landscape Planning and Design in Stratford.

Toronto Island Community

Happiest outside, among trees and preferably near water, embodiment coach Allyson Woodrooffe is fortunate to have lived on Toronto Island since 1989. Her appreciation of trees came through her grandfather, who loved sharing walks among the pine forest on his farm.

Kathleen Doody has been part of the Toronto Island community since 1976. The landscape and surroundings have been as important for her as the community, and she has been actively involved over the years in projects concerning both environmental and visual improvements.

Warren Hoselton is an ISA Certified Arborist and the former Park Supervisor on Toronto Island, for the City of Toronto. He has been on the board of the Canadian Tree Fund since 2007.

Betty Muise is a consultant specializing in adult education and training program design and facilitation. Throughout her career, Betty has focused on complex, multifaceted and highly technical issues in sectors such as health care, the environment, waste and recycling, energy, housing, and agriculture.
